This summer, Austrian law student Max Schrems asked Facebook to send him all the data they had on him.
What he received was a massive 1,200-page file. But that wasn’t the biggest surprise. He discovered that the social networking site had kept data he had deleted from his account, like messages and photos, and for its own use, they imported contacts from his personal e-mail account, all of this without his knowledge.
Now, Schrems has lodged 22 complaints against Facebook for data protection breaches. WRS’s Dave Goodman talks to social network specialist Olivier Glassey, a senior lecturer and sociologist at the University of Lausanne, who says that he is not at all surprised.

The man accused of shooting at the White House with an assault rifle will appear Thursday afternoon in federal court in Pennsylvania for an extradition hearing, after which he is expected to be moved to Washington, D.C., to face charges of carrying a dangerous weapon.
Oscar Ramiro Ortega-Hernandez was arrested Wednesday by Pennsylvania State Police acting on a tip from the Secret Service. There are indications that Mr. Ortega-Hernandez felt he was part of a “personal mission from God,” the AP reported, quoting investigative authorities.

The subterfuge is legal as well as extralegal. The PATRIOT ACT, launched by Cheney/Bush and ratified (unread) by a very cooperative and fearful elected government, has stripped us of many of our basic civil rights. This is justified by the terror of 9/11, which was the shadow government's own doing.
The TSA, FEMA, Homeland Security, and other such institutions are engaged in abuses to prepare the public for living in a police state without end and without the necessity of false flag operations to secure our cooperation.

For Thomas Drake, a [whistle blower and] former employee of the NSA, today was supposed to be his day in court. He was facing 10 felony charges, including violations of the Espionage Act, for passing state secrets to a reporter for the Baltimore Sun and he faced 35 years in prison.
However, last Friday he took a deal and pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor charge of unauthorized use of a government computer. So now it's likely that he will be fined, but not face any jail time.
Drake's prosecution and the back story suggests that the NSA, which is supposed to focus on foreign threats to US security; it has turned inward and is compiling databases of information about American citizens:

So the dystopian, Orwellian "Big Brother" nightmare of telescreens watching all the time is back on schedule.

Oh, Facebook, here we go again. The social media giant is facing a new wave of concerns over privacy protection after launching its latest feature:
It "allows" [forces unless one opts out] users to identify their friends automatically in photos without their permission.
The photo tagging tool, called Tag Suggestions, was put into place in December. But it was listed as unavailable until recently. Here's how it works:
When a user uploads new photos to his or her Facebook profile, the new feature then scans them with [police-approved] facial recognition software to match the people in the photos with other photos in which they might have been previously tagged.
The feature also offers "group tagging," which allows [pressures] users to type in a person's name and "apply it to multiple photos of the same person," according to Facebook's blog post on the subject. The problem is that users can do this without their friend's permission. More
He claims sources told him that CIA seed money helped get the company off the ground and has for the first time named Google's CIA point man.
Robert David Steele, a 20-year Marine Corps infantry and intelligence officer and former clandestine services case officer with the Central Intelligence Agency, is the CEO of OSS.net.

It has been speculated that the devices capture the locations through cell-tower triangulation for years, long before the fourth generation. To make matters worse, the information is not encrypted, which means it is available on any computer that you synchronize your phone to.
