It is possible to become a divinity (brahma), a light being (rupa loka deva), a celestial being (akasha deva), a fairy or nature spirit (bhummi deva), a better human, a ghost (preta), an animal, a monster, a hellion, a bodhisattva (striving to save others), a buddha (a rediscoverer and teacher of the timeless truth), a jerk, or a saint (arhat).

The Judeo-Christian "God" (who sounds like a Zoroastrian asura, or titan, more than a benevolent creator of the cosmos) may not be to blame for earthquakes. But it seems some extraterrestrial titans (called "demons" in later Buddhist cosmology because of their ongoing war against devas from their new home base Earth) might well have provided the advanced technology to humans.

A synonymous phrase for a "natural disaster" is an "act of God."
"God" (Brahma, Ahura Mazda, Allah, YHWH, El, and the many "gods" of the so-called monotheistic Judeo-Christian Bible, Old and New Testaments) here never really means The GOD (Brahman, the ineffable, the reality behind the illusion, the famous "I am that I am").
It refers more to a Greek demigods/Roman pantheon/Indian devas understanding of advanced extraterrestrials who visit, mate with, experiment on, evolve (genetically manipulate), educate, and rule through divine rite of hybrid humans. These "gods" (akasha devas, nagas, and asuras) and their messenger "angels" (gandharvas) might indeed "punish" and preserve, help and harm humanity.
One would not think that Buddhism or older Vedic Brahmanism (now surviving under the general name "Hinduism") supports Zoroastrian, Egyptian, Sumerian, and Judeo-Christian mythologies -- but it does. Fortunately, it gives much fuller and sensible explanations for what many other traditions have wrought into fragments and nonsense filler.

On a much deeper level, what are Mecca and the Black Cube at its center really about?
Mecca is the center of the Islamic world. Connection older than Hinduism and Judaism
Walking in circles, called circumambulation, is an appeasing mark of respect. It is explicitly called for in Hindu and pre-Hindu ceremonies. ("Hinduism" only began when Adi Shankara systematized disparate views and schools of thought prevalent in India around 800 CE). Interestingly, as part of the Hajj, or annual pilgrimage to Mecca, pilgrims throw stones at the Devil as if to keep bad luck away.
Hindus are under fear of evil and ill-effect from his planet Saturn. In Vedic astrology, the planetary position at the time of birth determines the future of a person. So Hindus accord immense importance to the planets, and Saturn or "Shani" is one such planet.

The Nine Realms of Nordic mythology -- as one learns in the movie "Thor" or from deep study of Viking lore -- are space worlds corresponding to the nine planets of our solar system. The post-Doomsday pet rescue service says it already already has 259 clients, who have paid $135 for the first pet and $20 for each additional pet.
All the rescuers are sworn atheists, which means they will be left behind on Earth, ready to rescue pets after their Christian owners have gone to the other side.
