Hope or dread in Burma? Visit from Clinton

Hillary Clinton: "We came, we saw, he died, ha ha ha!" The goal is US empire. Who's next?

BALI, Indonesia (AP) - Seizing an opportunity for historic progress in repressive Burma (Myanmar), Pres. B.S. Obama is dispatching Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton to the long-isolated nation next month in an attempt to accelerate fledgling reforms.

The move is the most dramatic sign yet of an evolving relationship between the United States and Myanmar, also known as Burma, which has suffered under brutal military rule for decades. Obama said Friday there had been "flickers of progress" since new civilian leadership took power in March.

(AP) More

Responding to signs of reform, Myanmar's main opposition party, led by Nobel laureate Aung San Suu Kyi, decided on Friday to register again for future elections after boycotting last year's voting.

"If Burma continues to travel down the road of democratic reform, it can forge a new relationship with the United States of America," Obama said as he announced Clinton's trip while on a diplomatic mission to southeast Asia. Clinton will be the first U.S. secretary of state to visit Myanmar in more than 50 years. More

Soldiers say: "Give WAR a Chance!"

PFC Sandoval edited by Ashley Wells (Wisdom Quarterly)
(Kristinamgarcia) Ignored by the VA, left homeless and cheated out of college tuition promises... now police arrest us at Occupy Boston.

Thank goodness for Veterans for Peace. Today is Veterans Day, a day set aside to remember the sacrifices families have and are making to promote free trade, hegemony, and imperial rule.

I remember a time on deployment. The troops in Iraq were tired of sitting around. They were tired of hearing peacenikshippy diplomats say, "Give peace a chance." We really thought there were WMDs (weapons of mass destruction). We were lied to.

Bush, Dick, and Colon (not pictured because he's a party pooper) (rense.com).

The fresh meat, rushed through training, were fond of saying: "Give war a chance." They really thought it was funny. I thought it was funny. Listening to metal There is an OG punk song that goes, "Let's have a war so you can go die."

It's about dying for stupid reasons. Colin Powell rewriting reports, Bush doing everything Cheney ordered him to, Ashcroft singing, Rumsfeld talking so much [nonsense] and no one calling him on it. Condoleeza Rice, Madeleine Albright, Phyllis Schafly, Laura Bush, the women were no better.

What do we call those who delight in war, "demons"?

War was desirable and planned for in great detail before inventing a reason to illegally starting to bomb with no congressional declaration. An unelected president signs the country up for an unwanted war...and we're still there. His father's friends told him to.

Raping, drinking, looting, pillaging, killing, all in a day's work.

NSA helps banks, spies on public

Andrea Shalal-Esa and Jim Finkle (Reuters EXCLUSIVE)
The US military does not work for the 99%. It works for the banks, who are part of the military-industrial complex. Together they form the 1%.

Exclusive: NSA helps banks
The National Security Agency [NSA, shown below], a secretive arm of the U.S. military, has begun providing Wall Street banks with intelligence on foreign hackers, a sign of growing fears of financial sabotage. The assistance from the agency that conducts electronic spying overseas is part of an effort by American banks and other financial firms to get help from the U.S. military and private defense contractors to fend off cyber attacks, according to interviews with U.S. officials, security experts and defense industry executives. We Want Total WAR! (video)

Wisdom Quarterly (ANALYSIS)
() The US will not back down creating a pretext to attack Iran, raising fears IAEA findings will be misused. Israel threatens to attack even without proof. Meanwhile, the mainstream media "reports" that Iran implicitly admits it is pursuing a nuclear bomb program. This is just like the excuses used to invade Iraq. John Glaser, an assistant editor at antiwar.com, says US is constantly pushing Iran to create a nuclear bomb.

By "we" is meant the US military-industrial complex. That is the 1% (one percent) -- Wall Street bankers and Pentagon neocons in charge of the US government since at least the time of Cheney/Bush and their ideal heir Obama.

By "war" is meant endless, corporate-profiteering, Nineteen Eighty-Four style military conflict. (In Orwell's novel, Big Brother was always at war with one of the other blocs, a useful enemy to stir up the population, keep them fearful, and keep them impoverished).

By "total" is meant "full spectrum dominance" of the region -- and that includes invading Iran. Iran is already being softened in the north as Turkey is destabilized by our HAARP weaponry.
Obama is will to pull troops out of Iraq (leaving lots of "advisers" and businessmen). Where to next, fearless leader?

Police shoot cameraman on video

Ernest A. Canning (BradBlog.com)

New video has emerged, courtesy of ThinkProgress, of an apparently unprovoked Oakland police officer shooting a cameraman during a recent stand-off with Occupy Oakland demonstrators.

In an email to The BRAD BLOG, Sgt. Christopher Bolton, Oakland PD's Chief of Staff, confirmed that the incident involved an "OPD use of force," which took place at 16th Street near San Pablo Ave. in Oakland on the morning of Nov. 3, 2011.

The matter was "under investigation." (Recall that a general strike took place in Oakland on Nov. 2. This event, according to the cameraman, took place shortly after midnight.) More

Herman "Koch" Cain: Sexual Harasser?

Wisdom Quarterly, NY Daily News.com
Sharon Bialek, the fourth woman to claim presidential hopeful Herman Cain harassed her, is shown here at a press conference with her attorney, Gloria Allred (TMZ).

Cain, who is funded by the notorious Koch multi-billionaire brothers -- who also funded the Tea Party AstroTurf campaign and Scott Walker's betrayal of the people and unions in Madison, Wisconsin -- is in a lot of trouble.

Rising in the polls, laying waste to Willard "Mittens" Romney and Rick Perry, corporate darling Herman Cain is facing mounting allegations. At least three lawsuits were settled, but only one accuser has since stepped forward and gone public. It would have been nice to finally have black president, but not if he got there by being a worse sell-out than our warmongering yes man, B.S. Obama.

Cain faces fourth sexual harassment claim
New York Daily News

Herman Cain won’t be getting “back on message” anytime soon. Sharon Bialek, a fourth woman accusing Cain of sexual harassment, went public on Monday in a press conference with celebrity lawyer Gloria Allred.

Bialek, a mother of three that Allred introduced as a registered Republican, revealed her encounter with the Republican candidate in 1997 in which she says he crossed the line when she asked him for help getting a job after being let go from the National Restaurant Association's educational foundation.

"He put his hand on my leg under my skirt and reached for my genitals," Bialek said. "He also grabbed my head and brought it to his crotch." At that point, Bialek says, Cain justified his actions by saying, "You want a job, right?" More (+ video)

Sunday protest: Keystone Tar Sands Pipeline

PROTEST SUNDAY, NOV. 6, 2011 D.C. AND L.A.
Washington Post ad: Obama, say no to tyranny; reject Keystone
  • We will return to DC to encircle the White House asking Obama to reject the tar sands pipeline.
This is a call to action. It was issued by a diverse group of movement leaders. The goal is to bring together a massive rally on November 6th in Washington DC. To join the rally, sign up.

We need your help. People got out of jail in DC after two weeks of civil disobedience that led to 1,253 brave people ending up in handcuffs to stop the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline.

It was the largest such action in decades. And because of their leadership, lots has begun to happen:

The Dalai Lama and Archbishop Tutu along with seven other Nobel Peace Prize winners wrote a letter to the president asking that he block the pipeline. They acknowledged the actions of those in DC:

“These brave individuals have spoken movingly about experiencing the power of nonviolence in that time. They represent millions of people whose lives and livelihoods will be affected by construction and operation of the pipeline.”

At Pres. Obama’s first public speech since the sit-ins ended, a hardy bunch of University of Richmond students unfurled a huge banner demanding that the president veto the pipeline -- followed by similar actions in Columbus, Ohio, Raleigh North Carolina, Cambridge, Massachusetts, Wilmington, Delaware, and many others.

Meeting on the Rosebud Sioux reservation last week, Native tribal leaders from both sides of the border and private land owners from South Dakota and Nebraska signed a "Mother Earth Accord" opposing Keystone XL and the tar sands.

These are the people who started this fight, and they’re being joined by everyone right down to Nebraska Cornhusker football fans who booed lustily when a Keystone ad showed up on the Jumbotron at a recent game. The next day the university ended their sponsorship deal with Trans-Canada Pipeline.

(Amy Dewan/HuffingtonPost.com)

Even as we issue this letter, Canadian activists by the hundreds are risking arrest on Parliament Hill in Ottawa. And brave protesters are trying to block shipments of heavy equipment to Alberta from Idaho and Montana.

These are remarkable signs of continent-wide protest.

Huge wildfires driven by the worst drought in Texas history have destroyed towns and killed people; the biggest rainfalls ever recorded have done similar damage in New Jersey, New York, and Vermont. There is real momentum for action and real need.

We have less than 90 days to convince the president not to approve the pipeline. We need to keep using our creativity and bodies as a part of this struggle -- to struggle even though there is no guarantee of victory. Here’s the plan in three stages... More

Killing humans for "sport"

US soldiers killed civilians, collected trophies
Twelve American soldiers face charges over a secret "kill team" that allegedly blew up and shot Afghan civilians at random and collected their fingers as trophies. Their secret serial "kill team" collected fingers as trophies. More

Soldiers plotted to kill Afghan civilians for "sport" -- Andrew Holmes, Michael Wagnon, Jeremy Morlock, and Adam Winfield face murder charges (Guardian.co.uk).

US soldiers in court for killing civilians for sport
TheAustralian.com.au
The unit was "out of control," prosecutors said as the ringleader of the so-called "kill team" faced court martial.

Military prosecutor Dan Mazzone said Staff Sergeant Calvin Gibbs, 26, took such pride in his murderous behavior that he had his soldiers pose for photos with the dead. He also cut off fingers of his victims and kept them as souvenirs [a behavior common to serial killers and US War on Vietnam soldiers seeking "trophies"].

Gibbs faces a maximum sentence of life in prison over charges including three counts of premeditated murder, in a scandal that has threatened Abu Ghraib-style embarrassment for the US military.

"You're going to learn that this platoon (was) out of control," Mr. Mazzone said in an opening statement to Gibbs' court martial, which began on Friday with jury selection.

Gibbs is accused of staging the killings between January and March 2010 to make them look like legitimate combat casualties. If convicted he faces a maximum punishment of life in prison without parole. More

Teen dies from smoking synthetic pot

Real thing still illegal

A 13-year-old in the U.S. who became ill after smoking synthetic marijuana and had a double lung transplant has died. Tonya Rice tells the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review newspaper that her son, Brandon, died Thursday morning at a Pennsylvania hospital. The boy smoked the fake marijuana out of a plastic candy dispenser and suffered chemical burns to both lungs. More

Why is Hemp Illegal?
Cannabis is a plant with many uses. It has always been popular with industry -- until it realized it could monopolize and make more money from deadly petroleum products. Who needs strong HEMP fiber, balanced oil, super protein, cancer medicine (it actually selectively eliminates cancer cells), or just about anything else when PLASTICS can be used to make toxic cloth (polyester), solvents, flavorings, preservatives, or deadly carcinogens?

Hemp is not marijuana. Anyone who smokes recreationally bears the unhealthy result of such abuse. "Marijuana" is an invention of a well orchestrated propaganda campaign paid for by the petrochemical industry. To take the psychoactive ingredient and breed plant strains that specifically promote abuse and addiction -- while pretending it is just individuals doing the research and development without clandestine government help -- is one of the great lies of our time.

(elenakulikova/flickr.com)

Marijuana has become a scourge, whereas hemp is a green solution to many post-industrial problems. After making tobacco toxic (it is said only cigarettes cause cancer, not the unadulterated plant in its natural state) industry sold it, made it as addictive as it could, and finally tried everything it could to avoid liability while the foolish in all quarters did the sensible thing of stating that there was no scientific link establishing a connection between smoking and cancer. They did not subsequently come forward to apologize for their tragic myopia.

In the same way, pot abuse and the "War on Drugs" conceals and distracts from the benefits of hemp. Obama has turned his back on normalizing cannabis laws in favor of Bush-era police state crackdowns on medical dispensaries.

"The War You Don't See" (film)

topdocumentaryfilms.com
()

John Pilger says in the film: "We journalists... have to be brave enough to defy those who seek our collusion in selling their latest bloody adventure in someone else's country... That means always challenging the official story, however patriotic that story may appear, however seductive and insidious it is. For propaganda relies on us in the media to aim its deceptions not at a far away country but at you at home... In this age of endless imperial war, the lives of countless men, women and children depend on the truth or their blood is on us... Those whose job it is to keep the record straight ought to be the voice of people, not power."

"Hot Coffee" - How Corporations Rule (video)

HotCoffeeTheMovie.com, Wisdom Quarterly
(HBO, Susan Saladoff) Stories we're told by corporate media hide shocking truths.

Is Justice Being Served?
["Tort reform? What's tort reform? "Forced arbitration and 'frivolous' lawsuits," now that's G.W. Bush and Dick "Halliburton" Cheney will not stand for!] Seinfeld mocked it. Letterman ranked it in his Top 10 list. And more than 15 years later, its infamy continues.

Everyone knows the McDonald’s coffee case. It has been routinely cited as an example of how citizens have taken advantage of America’s corporations and legal system, but is that a fair rendition of the facts?

Hot Coffee reveals what really happened to Stella Liebeck, the 81-year-old Albuquerque woman who spilled scalding coffee on herself and sued McDonald’s, while exploring how and why the case garnered so much media attention, who funded the effort, and to what end.

How corporate America destroyed our rights in court

[Hint: Corporations fabricated AstroTurf organizations to undermine our legal standing against them in court whenever they are liable for anything from irresponsibility, to criminal negligence, to rape. Yes, rape. KBR/Halliburton got a case against them redirected to private arbitration in the case of the group rape of Jamie Leigh Jones.] See the film, and decide who really profited from spilling hot coffee.

Jamie Leigh Jones, featured in "Hot Coffee" was raped by corporate (Halliburton/KBR) forces in Iraq (Mother Jones/Twylah.com).

“Eye-opening indictment of the way big business spins the media.”
—Variety

“Stunning debut … Sends audiences out of the theater thinking in a brand new way.”
—Washington Post

“Entertaining, informative…vividly illuminating.”
—Hollywood Reporter

Why, Why, Why?
Wisdom Quarterly (ANALYSIS)

Why was the coffee so hot (190 degrees or just 22 degrees below boiling) even after 700 complaints to McDonalds? Three reasons: it was corporate policy. But why? To mask with heat the flavor of the cheap coffee beans used by McDonald's and, moreover, to keep people from asking for a second free cup of coffee because by the time the first one cools, most customers have already left the fast food outlet.

Why was Pfc. Jamie Jones gang raped so badly by US soldiers ahd Halliburton/KBR contractors that she needed reconstructive surgery? Rape is a perk for our troops in Iraq -- homosexual sodomy of fellow US soldiers, sexual assault of nearly all female troops and support staff, rape and murder of Iraqi girls (maybe boys and prisoners, too). Don't ask, don't tell. It's torture, it puts people (prisoners as well as soldiers) in their place, keeps the hierarchy/patriarchy and our culture of violence alive. It's CIA policy.

"I'm lovin' it?" "You know you like it hot."

Killing Kaddafi... and propping up new dictator

Wisdom Quarterly (ANALYSIS)
A United States of Africa under Kaddafi, but not without US approval ().

Oct. 20, 2011 - Col. Kaddafi (Gaddafi, Qaddafi) was reportedly captured alive after two months on the run. The country's new authorities -- sponsored by the US and other western powers -- claim the ousted leader has been taken into custody in his hometown of Sirte, Libya.

It was reportedly overrun by rebel forces. He was soon executed presumably under orders from the people paying the bills. Sirte was the last major stronghold of Kaddafi's old regime supporters for the past two months.

Reporters in Sirte were unable to immediately confirm Kaddafi's capture, or even that the town had fallen to interim forces. Libya's current ruling body, the National Transitional Council, had said they would declare Libya liberated once Sirte fell.

The embarrassing appearance of Kaddafi's son and heir reveals
western disinformation campaign (psychological operation).

Reports are now rampant that Kaddafi was assassinated by those who took him into custody for those in the West wishing to keep him quiet. While he was indeed a monster, dictator, and criminal, he was OUR monster, dictator, and criminal. We set him up, kept him going, and are in the market for a new dictator. We will accept nothing less.

War hawks who argue that pacifists should be happy that such a criminal was murdered ignore the fact that this is "business as usual" in the New World Order. Why bother with kangaroo court trials when extrajudicial killings are so much more "convenient"?

Never mind the harm, injustice, or perpetuation of a corrupting system of installing dictators friendly to the West. The people never have a chance to be free or to enjoy the natural resources that are their birthright as citizens born in oil-rich lands.

()

Moammar Kaddafi's rule in Libya lasted more than four decades, longer than any other world leader. Having siezed power in a military coup at at the age of 27, he imposed a pan-Arab, anti-imperialist philosophy that won him both friends and enemies.Despite admitting that he had a nuclear weapons program, he was tolerated by the international community because of Libya's rich oil deposits, a dwindling international resource. Al Jazeera's Alan Fisher takes a look back at his rise and subsequent loss of power.

UFO shot out of the sky crash lands (video)

Wisdom Quarterly

() Americans believe in UFOs. And the Paranormal Footage Blog attests that this is the most amazing UFO crash footage ever captured. Judging by the audio attached to it, it seems as if it were videotaped by the US military. Gone are the days of grainy, out of focus saucer footage. This is crystal clear, metamorphosing, and hitting the ground. It is well known that the NWO shadow government with the aid of some extraterrestrials has been shooting down other extraterrestrial craft for decades. It may be a hoax, or it may be audio visual evidence of this phenomenon documented for internal purposes.

The evidence stays obscure by simply mentioning the word "hoax."

"Cyclops of the Sea" caught in Gulf of California

Few reports of mythical beasts (cryptozoological specimens) come with proof. But a sea creature caught by one fisherman is an exception. As extraterrestrials continue to genetically manipulate lifeforms on Earth, it is no surprise specimens like a cat with two faces or a baby with eight limbs are showing up. DNA is so receptive that a laser shot through one specimen onto another (with no physical contact between them whatsoever) is enough to transfer the information and produce a hybrid creature. Therefore, any creature with DNA is susceptible to bombardment with microwaves, EMF emissions, laser streams...and to manipulation.

Mainstream News: "Police are troublemakers"

Wisdom Quarterly
()

MSNBC is a corporate outlet. It purports to represent the "liberal" side as a ridiculous counterpart to Fox News' "conservative" extremes. It is part and parcel of the mainstream media.

This piece is important only because it is mainstream coverage of the protests. It is surprising that the powers that be allow MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnel to go this far in getting at the truth.

This may seem an insignificant report compared to all the video out there and all the injustice (most police crimes are not videotaped). But this is where reform starts.

The protests are filled with individuals who will no longer condone how corrupt our government, banks, military-industrial complex, and other corporate bodies have become. The Fed (The Federal Reserve Bank, Inc.), which is a private bank serving its own interests not the government's, is the lynchpin.

It is not the only corrupt body on Wall Street. The other private banks use it to rob the country blind with political help and blessings.

Many protesters have additional messages to be heard. There are many injustices, many causes, many routes to freedom. Most American only know that they are unhappy and in danger. Most of us want to create a better world, better society, better states.

In the beginning there was a mainstream media blackout on the Occupy Movement. Long before that the corruption of the Fed was avoided. The bailouts, the political maneuvering by Obama, Bush II, Clinton, Bush I is what we want to bring to light.

The Fed has handed out over $16 trillion ($2 trillion more than the national debt that took over two centuries to rack up) to private banks and corporations in the past four years. As suffering people not given a voice have increasingly "acted out," the military-industrial complex has funded a police state. We are spied on, and the constitutional protects and civil rights have been disregarded, rewritten, or simply violated.

  • A "trillion" is a thousand billion, a billion is thousand million.
  • A million seconds is about 12 days, but...
  • A trillion seconds is 32 thousand years.

But none of this was addressed by the mainstream media because that media is owned by the very corporations it fails to report on. The people did not elect the news staffs or editors, the oil ("energy") corporations or executives, the PR firms, nor were they approved of by the people.

These are red flags! Even "reputable" links prove what is being said. No special interpretation is necessary. Let us all make sure the current protests make these secrets known.

Bank (economic) crimes lead to unthinkable war (military) crimes. Because of poverty, brought on by corporate greed, members of society turn on themselves then turn on others in the greater world. We, the USA, are the empire to fear. Before long another empire will ascend. Just as we make others suffer, so we will suffer. Of course, only some of us are doing it. Therefore, it is the job of the rest of us to stop it. People (whistle blowers) defect from being part of the problem to contributing to the solution. Meanwhile, others (the media) deny there is any problem at all.

The Boy Mir: Struggle as the West’s war fails

() Following the international hit "The Boy who Plays on the Buddhas of Bamiyan," THE BOY MIR covers not one year but ten. It tracks the cheeky, enthusiastic Mir from a childish eight to a fully grown 18-year-old, a journey to adulthood in one of the toughest places on Earth, a journey that mirrors the story of Afghanistan.
The Boy Mir: One boy’s struggle and the failure of the West’s war [on Afghanistan]
Socialistworker.co.uk/Art
John Clossick thinks that The Boy Mir offers a stunning account of the trials of life in Afghanistan.

Six months before 9/11, shocking media images appeared of the Taliban government dynamiting the 1,450-year-old Buddha statues at Bamiyan in central Afghanistan. The demolition in March 2001 followed a Taliban edict that all statues be destroyed.

It brought the regime’s determination to impose a severe interpretation of Islam on Afghanistan into sharp international focus. The act shocked the West, although previously there had been little interest in the disastrous effects of a Western economic blockade on the country.

No one had commented much on the thousands of children who suffered from malnutrition as a result or were maimed by land mines. The visual shock of this destruction is both the starting point and the counterpoint for this affecting and strikingly shot documentary. More
