India rocked by powerful earthquakes

9/19/2011

Monsoon landslides, 6.8 quake leave Himalayan foothills of Sikkim devastated (rediff.com).

India's earthquake on Sept. 18, 2011 was likely the result of two seismic events striking at nearly the same time, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). The magnitude 6.9 quake killed at least 55 people in northeastern India, Nepal, and Tibet, reported the AP.

The quake rumbled the mountainous region of the Indian town of Mangan, in the northeast Indian province of Sikkim, and near the Nepalese border. The epicenter was 42 miles northwest of Gangtok, India. Tremors from India's big earthquake were felt as far away as Bangladesh and New Delhi.

The quake came at the end of the monsoon season, and rain-soaked hills spawned landslides that caused much of the devastation, according to the American Geophysical Union's Landslide Blog. Heavy rainfall and more aftershocks in the coming days could complicate recovery efforts.

A flurry of big earthquakes have hit in recent weeks around the seismically and volcanically active Pacific Ring of Fire, but they were not triggered by each other. The Sikkim earthquake, as it is called, was also unrelated to these other temblors, but was seismically complex in its own right. More

Quake toll rises to 80, over 3,000 rescued

NEW DELHI, India (PNS) - [UPDATE: Sept. 21, 2011] The toll in the Sunday’s earth quake rose to 80 on Tuesday even as defense and paramilitary forces rescued more than 3,000 people in the worst-hit areas of Sikkim and efforts were intensified to extricate those trapped under the debris of collapsed structure. As many as 50 persons have been reported killed in Sikkim alone and 30 others in the neighboring regions.

Obama Goes Republican (still can't win)

Wisdom Quarterly (ANALYSIS)
Selling out at every turn wedded to opinion polls and willing to say whatever it takes (justpolitics)

American Jobs Act (is all an act)
Today B.S. (Barry Soetoro) Obama addressed the nation to pander to what pollsters and his PR firm told him people wanted to hear, particularly Republicans. He said it -- jobs, jobs, jobs for everyone. Cut corporate taxes. Cut the deficit. Minimize government. Fix the roads. Free money for all. Raw-raw-raw, we're Number One! USA, USA, USA, USA!

Obama's speech fails to unite US... over his speech again (nymag.com).

And for all that, concession man got only yawns of disinterest from his new party. Maybe his dissemblance and mendacity have worn thin his message. No one believes it anymore... except the corporations who (s)elected him and stand to benefit the most.

He is so clearly misleading by oration, making empty promises, uttering almost the opposite of what he knows to be true, all for what? To be re(s)elected? To buoy the jobless. To stick it to the opposition? The mainstream media must have had advanced notice and have their spin-doctoring and supportive propaganda ready to go. Let the onslaught begin.

Brown nosing or white facing, Barack bows to Boehner and the Republican party even before they ask (truff pix).

[So how could we leave Iraq, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Airport Security Area, or the Internet? We must extend these costly and illegal/unethical wars and fight, fight, fight. We are sure taxpayers understand. Hey, and nice that we say this right around 9/11 to keep people cowering and cooperating. Who says the CIA/Pentagon are not geniuses?]

Japan Tsunami-Quake caused by HAARP

() Many events were predicted beforehand. Not only was the alien invasion movie "Battle for Los Angeles" was released on the same day as the Japanese tsunami. Moreover, channel and contactee Alex Collier revealed it in 1995! There were strange clouds above Japan prior to the earthquake. There was a weird water vortex sucking ships in the harbor. US corporate designed nuclear reactors were compromised. And long before that a hidden group threatened Japan's government with the possibility of this "natural" disaster if it did not cooperate monetarily and geopolitically. It was told to give over control of its monetary system, but it refused. And the shadowy group (CIA or some such) followed through on their threats making Japan the example (for the second time, Nagasaki and Hiroshima being the first to world governments what the US military is both capable of developing in secret and deploying on a massive scale. Hugo Chavez revealed what the US (new world) government did in Haiti and plans for Iran. He was thanked personally.

Germany to close all nuclear power plants!

Reuters, May 30, 2011

Banner says "ATOMIC POWER, NO THANKS." Demonstrators protest in front of Biblis nuclear power plant on March 20. In the wake of the Fukushina disaster, Germany plans to abandon nuclear energy (Reuters/Ralph Orlowski).

Germany will move out of nuclear power, keeping shut eight suspended reactors and closing the rest by 2022 in response to Japan's Fukushima disaster and following after a dramatic policy reversal by the coalition government at the weekend.

The decision, which came amid mass demonstrations against nuclear power, must be legally validated in parliament and could face strong opposition from utility companies.

Below is a list of the country's seven oldest reactors which were suspended after the Fukushima incident and an eighth, Vattenfall's Kruemmel, which was shut for other reasons. These were going to be shut until at least mid-June for safety reviews and now will probably never restart. More
