(RTAmerica) Crowds gathered in New York's financial district to protest Wall Street greed, corruption, and lack of accountability. RT's Anastasia Churkina dove into the rally to find out whether this could be the beginning of America's own Arab Spring.

"Occupy Wall Street" protests make an impact
RT calls it America's own "Arab Spring" -- when ordinary people rise up against unbearable oppression. The impact being made by "Occupy Wall Street" protesters is calling attention to un-prosecuted multinational banking crimes and high finance shenanigans.

The national debt, credit crisis, and high unemployment rates are all tied in to what goes on in the guarded halls and smoky rooms along Wall Street. More than any other institution -- military, social, or religious -- banking is the seat of power.

Motivated by greed, pulling political strings, calling the shots at the Pentagon, CIA, and the White House, it has been about the money since early temples began issuing notes for the treasures stored in their vaults.

How American Banking Works

President B.S. Obama is a "Savior Machine"

Redd Kross once had a new song. Only it wasn't new. It was David Bowie's "Saviour Machine." Move over, Nostradamus. It's as if Bowie had a psychic vision about our very own Barry Soetoro Obama, future leader of the un-free world.

We voted Kucinich. But we were happy a biracial (gay, slightly Muslim, and almost certainly not a citizen) man won. It was considered impossible just a year before. "Change"? We should have known the bankers who funded him were not going to allow that. But who expected him to go to the right of Cheney/Bush, beating the Tea Party at its own game?

Obama: "The Man Who Sold the World"

I never intended my phony negotiation style to sink world markets, honest! My handlers misled me. I caved right in like I was told. Blame the Republicans, blame Boehner, blame Reid. Obamacare? I'm ready to slash social security and anything else the people need or are entitled to... so long as the bankers keep their promise to re-[s]elect me.

Once Nirvana premiered this great new song on MTV's Unplugged. Only it wasn't new. It was David Bowie's "The Man Who Sold the World." Kurt had a knack for spotting hits and even making them sound better than the original acoustically.



The song tells the tale of a fictional president: "We passed upon the stair, we spoke of was and when. Although I wasn't there, he said I was his friend, which came as some surprise. I spoke into his eyes. I thought you died [inside] alone, a long long time ago.

This secret New World Order plan actually makes sense.

"How ya like me now?" w can hear Obama asking. And the amazing thing isn't that he sold us all out. That's why they selected him for the job in the first place. No, the amazing thing is that the same people will vote for him again.

True, he's an improvement on Dick Cheney. But how much betrayal is enough to rethink American political propaganda and go in a new direction beyond the rigged two party system?

US wars to cost $4 trillion, report finds

The Department of War (aka, the Pentagon) Did they ever figure out what hit it?

A new report out of Brown University estimates that the U.S. wars in Afghanistan and Iraq--together with the counterinsurgency efforts in Pakistan--will, all told, cost $4 trillion and leave 225,000 dead, both civilians and soldiers.

Afghanistan is the Land of the Buddha, the original Kapilavastu, with the largest statues in the world. But archeologists are not likely to uncover its wonders before Chinese mining interests destroy artifacts in Mes Aynak and elsewhere.

The group of economists, anthropologists, lawyers, humanitarian personnel, and political scientists involved in the project estimated that the cost of caring for the veterans injured in the wars will reach $1 trillion in 30 or 40 years.

In estimating the $4 trillion total, they did not take into account the $5.3 billion in reconstruction spending the government has promised Afghanistan, state and local contributions to veteran care, interest payments on war debt, or the costs of Medicare for veterans when they reach 65.

The Congressional Budget Office, meanwhile, has assessed the federal price tag for the wars at $1.8 trillion through 2021. The report says that is a gross underestimate, predicting that the government has already paid $2.3 trillion to $2.7 trillion. More
